About Me:

Meet Sophie Whitmore

I'm Sophie Whitmore, the founder of Recipes by Sophie, and my love for cooking started in the most ordinary place: a busy family kitchen where dinner had to be simple, affordable, and still feel like something worth gathering around. I grew up around homemade meals that were never fancy, but always comforting. There were casseroles cooling on the counter, pancakes on slow Saturday mornings, chicken dinners that stretched into leftovers, and desserts made because someone needed a little joy at the end of the day.

I started Recipes by Sophie because I know how overwhelming online recipes can feel. Some call for too many ingredients, some skip important steps, and some look beautiful but do not match real-life cooking. My goal is different. I want every recipe I share to feel approachable before you even preheat the oven or pick up a knife.

My Culinary Philosophy

My Background & Expertise

I've spent years developing home-style recipes for families, friends, and everyday cooks who want reliable meals without stress. I focus on practical cooking: easy dinners, chicken recipes, breakfast ideas, and homemade desserts that use familiar ingredients. I test recipes with the questions real home cooks ask: Can this be made on a weeknight? Will the steps make sense? Can the leftovers be used? Is the flavor worth the time?

At Recipes by Sophie, my mission is to make home cooking feel welcoming again. I want readers to feel like they have a calm friend in the kitchen, someone who explains the why, gives useful tips, and helps them cook food they are proud to serve.
