Ingredients:

  • ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted and hot
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (45g) Dutch-processed cocoa powder
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp (1.5g) salt
  • ½ cup (65g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (90g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8 inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together the hot melted butter, sugar, and cocoa powder until a smooth, glossy paste forms and the sugar begins to dissolve.
  3. Add the room-temperature eggs and vanilla extract. Whisk vigorously for 1-2 minutes until the batter lightens slightly in color and becomes glossy.
  4. Using a spatula, gently fold in the salt and all-purpose flour. Stir only until no white streaks of flour remain.
  5. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the edges are set and firm, but the center has a very slight jiggle.
  7. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before slicing.
